The plans for The Queen’s Diamond jubilee have been announced for the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd of June 2012. opportunities to engage with the non-liturgical calendar are often missed and it would seem that those large buildings many of us curate should be utilised by the communities we serve. There is one obvious opportunity to organise an event:
People will also be encouraged to share Sunday lunch with neighbours and friends.
I’m not even sure I need to fill in the blanks with this one as it seems like a nobrainer. Church hall + roast beef + neighbours, friends and relatives = a good idea.
Often these occasions are missed by the church is they are organised at the last-minute when committees realise that it is just around the corner. Lets start to organise this now whilst there is plenty of time to put together a good quality event, invite lots of people and be at the centre of a celebration that people will remember.
