Sanctum held its fourth gathering of Sacramental Alt:Worshippers last week in the iconic if a little sun scorched grounds of the monastery church of The Community of The Resurrection. What a melting pot for sharing good practice and cultivating ideas it has become. As I looked at the delegates eating lunch on the final day
Last night at the Rock Mass we were looking at the interaction between Jesus and the Woman at the Well. I know someone who works for Yorkshire Water so we had an installation of a stand pipe in the centre of church. This linked in with the use of the well known “to be known
Last week I discovered the work of Michael Leunig, cartoonist, poet and writer. I quickly fell down the rabbit hole and became hooked. FuelledByTea pointed me towards Leunig’s prayers. The rabbit hole deepened. At Harvest Festival at Holy Nativity on Sunday we used this one during the service: Dear God, We rejoice and give thanks for earthworms,
The communion meal is a service we have held at Holy Nativity for the last three years. It is a communion service in reverse. It is a place for all ages to gather together around God’s table, to share bread and wine together, to eat together, to explore the bible together and to pray together.
Tonight at Rock Mass we used this Kinetic Typography of Luke 6:20-21. The service was all about poverty. If you like it use it. With the black background you can drop it on top of a different coloured background. I think that’s what I will do in future.

At Rock Mass we have a yearly theme. The theme for this year is Micah 6:8, “Act Justly, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly”. This is the introductory video we’ve put together for each service. We have a 4:3 ratio background in the service so I thought I’d better do a widescreen version for you with no
At the Christmas Rock Mass we prayed for Jesus to bring light into the dark situations around the world and in our lives. I bought a couple of paper chain making kits from eBay. With suitable music playing, people wrote their prayers on the back of their links and added them to the chain. It
Since the late 19th century, The Church has been held hostage to one of the most theologically facile songs that has ever been sung during a service. All of the accusations of “pie in the sky when you die” and a “bearded man in the sky” can be found in this universal favourite. When combined
The Nursery Rhyme Mass is one of the most interesting developments in sacramental ministry with children that I’ve come across. Fr Simon and other contributors like Mtr Leah have been using familiar tunes to engage the young and old with the sacraments. I haven’t yet had time to be able to incorporate a regular worship
